A Month in Review / April 2011

This month was a hectic one as well.  If I remember correctly I was only able to go out to one social event with my friends.  This is what I’ve been up to in April:

  • Celebrated my grandmother’s 94th birthday on the 4th!  I drove up to Edmonton to visit her for a few hours.
  • Shot the 20th Anniversary of the Alberta Real Estate Foundation.  It was held in the Alberta Room of the Palliser Hotel in Calgary.  What a spectacular room!  Kudos to the staff there for letting me use the service elevator and get up on the balcony to get an amazing view of the room.
  • Attended part of the Canadian Imaging Conference in Banff.  The keynote speaker was Art Wolfe and I got a chance to chat with him briefly while he signed my copy of his book “Edge of the Earth, Corner of the Sky“.  His work is unlike any other.  His images have a unique blend of photojournalism and fine art which is what I love about his work.
  • Did an event for TundaClap Promotions where I got to shoot DJ Konsequence, DJ Newboy and Deejay Simplefrm.
  • Attended a Photoshelter webinar to learn what photo editors are looking for in photographers.  Quite interesting.  Photoshelter webinars are free and quite informative!  Check them out.
  • Did a second event for TundaClap Promotions entitled “Intervention”.  All I can say is Soca music is alive and well in Calgary.  Pictures coming soon!
  • Fine tuning the finishing touches of my new website… stay tuned for that one!
  • Sold my biggest print to date!  The Framework Foundation contributed to purchase Horseshoe Bend at 30″x70″.  That’s 6 feet long!  It almost didn’t fit in my car.  Good thing I have a hatchback :)
  • Getting ready for a trip out to the west coast.
