My Confession / I’m an Addict

My Confession

If you’ve been following my blog for some time now you’ll know that I do regular posts entitled “What Inspires You“.  My very first post about inspiration was about film and the movie The Godfather.  In fact, I watch 2-3 movies per week and sometimes more.  I am always excited for the next sci-fi space adventure.  I crave to see cowboys duke it out in westerns.  I relish in the suspense of crime dramas.  I lose myself in compelling documentaries.  Hi, my name is Jeff Cruz and I’m addicted to cinema.

Calgary Cinema

One of my bucket list items is to watch all the movies listed on AFI’s top 100 list.  So when I first heard about Calgary Cinematheque I was instantly intrigued because they have bi-monthly screenings of classic films.  For a $40/season membership you get admission to five films (or you can pay $10.  This year’s bi-monthly screenings are centered on three themes: Classic Crime, 60‘s Britain and Amazing Soundtracks.

Captain Phillips

Last night Aiofe and I saw Captain Phillips.  This seemingly ordinary movie based on a true story was quite amazing.  It had gotten some really good reviews.  It was heart pounding and suspenseful throughout but the shining moment of the movie comes at the final scene where Tom Hanks shows why he is the Jimmy Stewart of our time.
