Nikon Df / Pure Photography Retrospective

The New Nikon Df
When Nikon started releasing teaser videos for something coined “Pure Photography” everyone was a bit skeptical.  Rumors were that it was a retro styled camera reminiscent of the old F-series 35mm film cameras of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.  Rumors also started going around that it was purely a stills camera with no video capabilities.  Rumors can sometimes be true…

The Old Nikon FT2
The old Nikkormat (Nikon) FT2 camera that my dad used and passed down to me.  I still use it today for some b&w photography.  Notice something similar…?

Pure Photography Retrospective
Because I love these teaser videos so much I’m going to post all the Nikon Pure Photography videos in one post so you can watch them all in one spot.  No need to hunt for them on YouTube or the Nikon website.

  1. My F3 on steroids + extra buttons :)

  2. This camera confuses me. Sure, it looks good but I think that is the only reason why it would garnish any sales. Even a D610 is more practical than this guy but I guess practicality isn’t what this camera is about.

  3. LOL u guys crack me up :)) Stephen: Just think…. D4 for under $3K :))

  4. Faux D4 is better than no D4 :)

  5. Hehe. True! You going to get one of these collectors?

  6. Doubt it. Unless I sell the Porsche lol

  7. I know.. it’s a D4 for half the price, but after selling cameras for a few years it’s not hard to smell a gimmick from a mile away. With that being said, it was a great ad campaign but more so for photography in general rather than the Df!
