Back in December last year (2012) I went on a road trip to Banff National Park with Aiofe and her family. We spent the day hiking out in Johnston Canyon and window shopping at the Banff town site. Aiofe, her mom and sister went to the Banff Hot Springs while I took the opportunity to do some night photography.
This particular moonlit night was quite interesting as there was a nice north wind that carried the clouds quickly over the mountain tops. When the moonlight hit the clouds at the right angle you could see the clouds moving like a stream of water in the sky. I’ve always wanted to visit a frozen Lake Minnewanka at night and this was the perfect time to go. The area was so quiet that I could hear the lake ice shifting every once in awhile. It was quite eerie. The moon starburst and flare is due to the lens I selected. Banff National park is an amazing place and being so close to Calgary I feel very lucky.
