A few weeks ago I was called in by the great editors of Mabuhay Calgary to photograph the Mayor of Calgary, Naheed Nenshi. The photos were for an interview so we didn’t have much time for the shoot. Originally we were going to meet at City Hall but then the plans changed at the last minute to the campaign headquarters on 4th street in the Mission district. In total I probably spent 5 to 7 minutes to do the shoot. We first used his wall of campaign supporters and volunteers in the background.
While Adrian Dayrit, the writer interviewed Mayor Nenshi I was able to go around and some some detail shots.
Dubbed the “Purple Army” Nenshi adorns his campaign with the colour purple.
On the heels of the Calgary mayoral election, Nenshi was able to give me a bit of time in front of the view from his 4th ave campaign headquarters. This photo made the front cover of the October issue of Mabuhay Calgary.

I’ve always wanted to give Mayor Nenshi one of my art pieces and so this was the perfect opportunity. I captured this “altered” bus stop during the June 2013 floods. A part of my Instant Art collection, Mayor Nenshi now has it. Thanks for taking the picture Adrian.
