Back From Burning Man / Teaser Pictures
As I’m writing this post it has already been over three weeks since I left the Playa which is home to Black Rock City. Playa is a term used to describe the vast area of flat, dried up land that hosts art cars, art installations, music and structures that are set on fire. Here are a few of my favourites that were processed on Instagram.
The Burning Man 2016 theme was da Vinci’s Workshop and so the Man was modeled after da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man
Moon art car
Mushroom art installation. These mushrooms would open up and bloom as you stepped on weight sensitive platforms.
Black Rock City Lighthouses
Helios, an interactive exhibit where you would climb up onto a platform and emit a beam of light into the centre.
Chronosydra is a huge reverse hourglass that displays the passage of time on the Playa
The Space Whale
The Sonic Runway, my favourite installation this year. 32 separate rings of light that change colour depending on the music being played at the start of the line. It would be in sync with how fast the music travels.
Skull art car
Monolith bike
Hoop flow dancer
Catacomb of Veils pyramid set ablaze while a BRC ranger looks on.
The Temple on Fire
The Temple
The night of the Man Burn with the Seattle Art Car in the foreground.
If you want to check out what Burning Man was like in 2015 check out my post from last year.
